TobiReader is a fast, private feed reader that keeps your reading on your device. Feeds, articles, read state, stars and settings live locally — there’s no account, no TobiReader server, no tracking, and no ads. It’s built for people who want a calm, modern RSS/Atom reader that doesn’t phone home.
What it does
- Read RSS & Atom feeds with full-text article parsing, categories, and a clean, distraction-free reader.
- Virtual feeds — Today, Saved, Starred, Recent — plus collapsible categories and fast feed search.
- Read-aloud (text-to-speech) that runs on-device, including multilingual voices for reading articles in their own language.
- Optional AI summaries & translation — bring your own API key (e.g. OpenRouter); article text is sent only to the provider you choose, only when you ask. No key, no calls.
- Self-hosted sync — point it at your own FreshRSS server and your read/star state syncs to your server. We never see it.
- Offline-friendly — articles you open are cached for reading without a connection.
Private by design
Everything that matters happens locally. The only time data leaves your phone is through features you turn on and point at endpoints you control: fetching the feeds you subscribe to, syncing to your own FreshRSS server, or summarizing/translating with your own AI key. There is no backend, no telemetry, and no profiling.
